Glass, 2012, ~48"x1"x1" each.

Borosilicate glass rods kiln-shaped, sandblasted, rubbed with transparent oil color. Our blaster was too short for the rods. I ended up outside with a hand-blaster, masked and covered head-to-toe, in a pile of excess sand, sand in my ears, between my toes, in my hair, turning the bent rod to get every inch.

I made 18 of these rods in various colors. They hang to represent the path your hand takes when throwing something like a javelin, a shot-put, a cricket ball, a spear. Or, they represent the shine on the back of a leaping dolphin, or a segment of rainbow. Pick your own image - a curve is a very primeval shape.
