Friend Goat

Linoprint with colored pencil, 2015, 12"x9".

This image is printed into glass. There isn’t any color here, just shadows. The linoleum block is pressed into raw plaster, and the glass is laid over the plaster and melted. It appears as a mirror-image from the one printed on paper, because here we are looking through the glass and we see the image looking as I cut it. If you looked at the block itself, it would show this orientation. The paper print reverses the original, like a rubber stamp. Sometimes it's quite a surprise to see how different the final print looks from the block.
