Desert Flowers

Acrylic on ceramic, 2020, 22” long, 18” wide, 8” high.

This ceramic turtle, left by the previous owner of our Arizona house, was very sun-faded. We named it Irene after the orignal owner, and I repainted it with pictures of the desert flowers that bloom in our yard over the year. Clockwise from the head: yucca, evening primrose, prickly pear cactus, Mexican bird-of-paradise, prickly poppy, desert willow. In the center, a cross-vine.
