Wales: 100,000 Gannets. Heaven.
Gannets are so beautiful, I just can't get enough of them. Here there are about 100,000 on a refuge in the Irish Sea off the coast of Wales.
Driving in Britain
Driving is really necessary to get to many of the places I want to see around Britain although I have train and boat journeys as part of the mix too.

Give me my handy National Trust Membership card and you never know what I will find. This particular day, I found the home of George Washington's ancestors in the village of Washington.
Yorkshire East Riding: NOT your ordinary vacation destination
I keep saying I want to see ordinary life wherever I go. I am really seeing it here. Tourists do not come here but there is something of interest around every corner.
Anthony Glynn walking tour of Southport, England
A sunny afternoon in the Victorian resort town of Southport, near Manchester--what could be bad. But it gets better because I have the pleasure of the company of Tony Glynn, long time newspaper reporter, author and currently artist and cartoonist.
More Iceland: Quirky things that caught my eye
A blog does not do the country justice--it is stunningly lovely and people are really nice.
Driving in Iceland: 6 beautiful days and 1 rainy day
My trusty car for the travel around the country. I went clockwise from Reykjavik along Highway 1 which circles the island near the coast. I made a few deviations--this is me after all.
Gyrfalcon and more: great birding in Northern Iceland
I arrived in Iceland hoping for a glimpse of one gyrfalcon. I ended my two-day intense northern birding effort with six, SIX, sightings. Be still my heart.
Glacier Day in Iceland
Under the ice are 7-10 active volcanoes. They erupt from time to time. Most recent was 1996. A volcano has been erupting in 2013-2014, near but not actually under the ice.
Alaska Lupine saves the day
Iceland is so unusual. There are so many stories to tell, I cannot even begin. So I am starting with a small bite about a lovely plant.
A Sunny Saturday in Reykjavik, Iceland
I am here in Reykjavik for a couple of days. Long enough to learn how to spell the name of the town.
