Big Bird

Oil painting, 2009, 20x14.

A metal crane in someone’s yard in Washington, DC. A year later it was gone. A year after that, I met the owner of the house at an art opening. I loved that bird, I said. She looked at me oddly. That bird was so rusty it fell in a heap, and I got rid of it, she said. Sic transit gloria mundi.
