The birdies are out of the egg, and the shells are left as images of hopefulness perhaps. These are cast from several varieties of glass, some recycled, some art glass, using lost wax technique to make plaster molds. The glass gets into the mold through an access hole, or fill cup, in the top of the mold. Turning the cast glass right way up (with the shell opening upward) turns the fill cup into a post. In some cases I left the post on the egg shape to lift it up above the others. Others have the post cut off. Some of them rest in balance on their sides. The biggest one is about 4" across.
